The conference will take place in two venues apart from each other about 5 minutes walking distance. They are located close to the historical centre of Porto within 5-10 minutes walking distance of hotels, restaurants and modern shopping centres.
The first venue – Seminário de Vilar – is a recently recovered monastery with spacious facilities where plenary and parallel sessions will take place. Overlooking the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean, it provides a very pleasant and quiet environment for discussion and exchange of ideas.
Address: Rua Arcediago Van Zeller, 50 - 4050-621 Porto
The second venue is the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS) and the Pharmacy Faculty of the University of Porto. Several parallel sessions will be hold in their modern facilities.
Address: Rua Jorge Viterbo, 228 4050-313 Porto
Between both venues there is a delightful park – Palácio de Cristal – dominated by a huge domed pavilion that is surrounded by a lake, flowerbeds, with a superb viewpoint over the Douro River. Inside the park, there are a multimedia library, an auditorium and a cafeteria. Across the street from the park entrance is the gateway to the city's art galleries (Rua Miguel Bombarda). Around the corner of the park, a museum – Museu Romântico – sheltered in a 19th century mansion, recreates the atmosphere of the city during the age of romanticism. Not far away, the Port Wine Museum shows the relevance of Port wine and its trade to the development of the city.
